Dyfed Powys Police Federation has pledged its support for today’s National Day of Reflection.
The event has been organised by the Marie Curie charity and coincides with the first anniversary of the announcement of the first lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There will be a national minute’s silence at midday and people are being encouraged to take part in the ‘beacon of light’ at 8pm by standing on their doorsteps or at their windows while shining a light from a candle, torch or mobile phone.
“We’re proud to be coming together with the nation to support today’s event,” says Roger Webb, secretary of Dyfed Powys Police Federation.
“Since the start of the pandemic, more than 126,000 people have lost their lives so it is important that we pause to remember them and also show our support to their families.”
The event also encourages people to support those who are bereaved, as well as share hope for a brighter future.
The Federation is encouraging those who have dealt with loss or bereavement, whether at work or in their personal lives, to reach out for support if they need it.
