The French Government has recently amended its rules for people entering France, which will now impact on travellers from the UK. With effect from 23:00 on Friday 17 December 2021, you must now have a ‘pressing’ reason to travel to France from the UK, and since a holiday is not considered to be a pressing reason, UK holidaymakers will not be allowed into France unless they are exempt.

Customers who will now be unable to undertake their planned trip should contact their travel provider at the earliest opportunity, in order to obtain a refund or a credit.
While we will continue to consider cancellation claims if the customer is diagnosed with Covid-19 or obliged to self-isolate and is therefore unable to travel, there will be no cover for cancelling a trip due to the changes imposed by the French Government.
If you are already in France, there is no suggestion that you should return to the UK earlier than planned but you should, of course, continue to comply with local rules and restrictions. Your insurance will not cover the cost of returning home early, unless there is a medical requirement for you to do so. Provided you have not travelled against Governmental advice, you will, however, continue to be covered by your travel insurance for medical expenses (including if you contract Covid-19) until you return home.
The pandemic continues to cause disruption around the world as well as posing significant health risks and changes to travel restrictions, often at short notice. We strongly recommend that you follow Governmental advice at all times.
